THE trial of a 59-year-old man charged with the murder of a man whose body was found in a water well at Tulagi in 2022, has resumed in the High Court.
Dickson Sina faces trial for one count of Murder before Deputy Chief Justice Rex Faukona.
This is a re-trial, promoted by the death of Sina’s original lawyer, during the first trial.
The re-trial began last year, with only one witness testified during the scheduled week-long trial.
New dates were set, and the trial is expected to continue for three weeks.
Prosecution has five additional witnesses to call before concluding their case.
The murder allegedly occurred between 24 and 26 September 2022.
It was alleged the deceased had left his home for the market on 24 September 2022 but had failed to return home.
His body was later discovered inside the water well at Smoking Area in Tulagi.
The water well, located near the main road and Tulagi Wharf, was used by local residents for bathing and washing.
Only a few houses are situated near the well.
The trial will continue on Wednesday.
Lazarus Waroka from the Public Solicitor’s office is now representing Sina, while Public Prosecutor John Wesley Zoze is prosecuting.
