Tuvakaoni Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) community in the Tasahe Area, West Honiara over the weekend successfully hosted a spiritual singing competition.
About ten singing groups from within the area took part at the musical event.
The two well-known musicians and brothers in Honiara Alex and Rexford Haro were the main judges during the singing event.
The main aim of the contest is keep the youths going with their singing talents and develop it.
According to a member of the organising committee Levan Respioh, the competition was divided into three categories which included solo, duet and group choir categories.
“We have conducted this because we see that many of our youths do have their own talents, but the problem is they don’t have the confident to perform themselves in the church programme,” said Mr Respioha Church Elder of Tuvakaoni.
Acknowledging the event, Alex Haro said the Tuvakaoni has a lot of talent musician who can sing.
“The only way to keep the standard of your young talented musicians alive is to engage them in such a programme like this,” he said.
He added that such programme like that will help to motivate the minds of the youths and encourage them to have high esteem in their life and carry on their talent in the years to come.
The contest kicked off at 7:30 pm with a good number people turning up to listen to the groups.
Prizes were awarded to the top singers.
