THE burning of a staff home at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU), Panatina Campus over the weekend is under investigation.
The Fire and Rescue Services of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is in charge of the matter.
The unoccupied staff house was razed to ground on Saturday 23 June 2018.
Director of the Fire and Rescue Services, Superintendent Rodney Kuma said the fire incident was reported to them at about 2pm on Saturday afternoon and they responded accordingly.
“The house was completely burnt down but luckily there were no deaths reported, as the building was unoccupied at that time,” explained Mr. Kuma.
“We are investigating the cause of the fire as it is suspicious especially when no one was occupying the house at the time of the incident,” he added.
He appealed to anyone that was around that house in the afternoon of Saturday 23rd of July and may have any information, to report to the nearest police station.
