Suidani advices voters not to vote for independent candidates in next general elections
AS Solomon Islands celebrates its 44th Independence since 1978, Malaita Provincial Premier Daniel Suidani has advised his people with a key message ahead of the next national general election.
Speaking at a community awareness Monday this week, Mr Suidani encouraged and adviced the Kilusakwalo community in central Kwara’ae electorate not to support independent candidates that will be contesting in the upcoming national general election.
The premier said he learned that most of the independent candidates elected normally involved in lobbing practices to form a new government, which is not respectable as a representative.
He explains that an independent candidate cannot make a law unless he or she joins a political party.
Suidani also encourages any one who wishes to contest in the upcoming national general election to campaign under a political party.
“We must unite in one to move the nation forward.”
“We must choose good leaders, not followers or a leader who fails to recognize the affairs of the people,” Mr Suidani said
Mr Suidani reminded the community that some people will use money to lure support for their interest.
He added such corrupt practices can destroy the rights of people who wish to see changes and good leadership in the government.
He said more money has been poured in through Constituency Development Fund CDF, however there is only little impact seen taking place.
He further stated that using the money rightly is a reflection of a good leader and government.
He said the Malaita province government has implemented most of its projects from the provincial capacity development fund PCDF.
He pointed out the using money rightly is most important thing in any development, not where the money come from.
