The Minister for Infrastructure & Development (MID) Ricky Fuo’o has been acknowledged by the Leader of Opposition Matthew Wale following the successful passage of the National Building Standards Bill 2025.
Hon Wale particularly praised Minister Fuo’o for his hard work and for acknowledging the recommendations on the Bill from the Bills and Legislations Committee (BLC) and the Opposition Group.
Speaking during the motion of special adjournment moved by the Prime Minister in Parliament on Thursday Hon Wale said this is the kind of collaboration needed by sponsoring ministries and the BLC.
“This is the collaborative approach needed between sponsoring ministries and BLC to advance legislation smoothly and most importantly to strengthen legislations that come to Parliament,” the Opposition Leader said.
The Opposition Leader said sponsoring ministries must not think or view BLC as an enemy.
“BLC is there to strengthen legislations, provide insights and recommendations to achieve government’s objectives,” he said.
Hon Wale said, the humility and leadership by the minister and his officials must be an example to other ministries.
“We need this kind of approach by young energetic leaders in Parliament,” he said.
The National Building Standards Bill 2025 was passed in Parliament on Thursday with amendments.
