Leader of Opposition Hon Matthew Wale has came out to congratulate Kurukuru for retaining the top spot as the Futsal Champions of the Pacific.
Hon Wale said it is an achievement all Solomon Islanders should be proud about because victory is a testament of commitment, hard work, perseverance and most importantly discipline on and off the court.
“I would like to congratulate the players, management and the coaching staff for their victory.
“It is a proud moment for the country after a long spell since missing out on our dominance in futsal in the region,” he said.
Hon Wale has encouraged the national government to recognize the efforts of the Kurukuru team and the management.
The Opposition Leader said the government must continue to support the development pathway for futsal in this country.
“We have proven to the region our dominance in futsal in the pacific and we have been to the futsal world cup a few times.
This should always be an encouragement and drive to maintain our status as the champions in the region and make more world cup appearances in the future,” he said.
Hon Wale has also acknowledged SI high commission office in Fiji, our students and the Solomon Islands community for supporting the team during their campaign.
“All Solomon Islanders should be proud of our boys. Congratulations Kurukuru. You have done our country proud,” he said.
Kurukuru lifted the trophy on Wednesday night after an unbeaten run.
