The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) led by Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele has failed to deliver some of the government business priorities it outlines at the start of the year.
During his Sine Die speech in Parliament on Monday morning the Opposition Leader Matthew Wale said, he had observed over the past months that GNUT was not being productive.
“I have only one observation to make on the matter of government business in the House, which is that government was not as productive as it could have been.”
The outspoken Member of Parliament (MP) for Aoke Langalanga said, the list of priorities and legislative agenda outlined during the Speech from throne was not matched by what came through the House.
“It was the first full year of GNUT and I had high hopes that parliament would be kept on its toes by the load of legislative work to be transacted. This was not the case.”
Meanwhile, he also joined the Prime Minister, on behalf of the hard working people of Aoke Langalanga, to recognize all the efforts of ministers, members and officials to get the business of government transacted through this House over 2025.
“And on their behalf, let me also thank you, Sir, the Clerk and your staff for the work you have all put into ensuring that the people’s parliament can continue to exercise its oversight, accountability, and law-making responsibilities.
“The people’s parliament has a solemn responsibility to discharge its functions with integrity, and maintain the people’s trust,” he said.
