The Ward 28 Waneagu Sulanasina 2020 Mini-Games was officially launched at Bina community in West Kwaio, Malaita Province on Monday.
The mini-games are being organised based on the theme, “Empowering youths through sports.”
It was officially opened by the Malaita Deputy Premier Randol Sifoni yesterday.
Speaking during the official opening, MPA for Ward 28 Clodio Tei’ifi said the 2020 Mini-Games is aimed at reducing domestic violence; creating friendship, partnership, and strengthening a peaceful environment.
Not only that, but he added the Mini Games is also aiming at developing a mindset prior to physical, socially, mentally, emotionally and spiritual behaviour among Ward 28 youths.
Furthermore, he said the mini-games is to bring community support and participation in communities in Ward 28 through disciplinary measures and not to mention that it is also aiming at improving the standard of sports in West Kwaio.
Mr. Tei’ifi said he will continue to support this tournament as he wants to bring about positive change to the lives of youths in Ward 28.
The MPA then wishes the people of Ward 28 a happy Christmas and happy sporting celebrations.
The Waneagu mini-games kicked off with soccer this week and will continue next week with other sporting codes like futsal, volleyball, and netball.
