White River communities in West Honiara received support from police and security partners for their festive season sporting activities.
The support comes from the Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP) and the China Police Liaison Team to engage communities during the festive season.
Supervising Officer Commanding Station (OSC) White River Police Station, Senior Police Constable Terence Vildam, said the initiative is part of our broader festive season crime prevention and community partnership program for a peaceful and crime-free West Honiara.
Supervising OCS Vildam said, this initiative was conceptualized and initiated in September 2025, following challenges faced in detecting crime and addressing escalating crime trends during that period.

OCS Vildam said in response that White River police adopted a data-driven approach, targeting identified crime hotspots based on offense-reported data and conducting focused community awareness programs addressing prevalent offenses within each hotspot community.
Supervising Operation Manager, Honiara City Police, Inspector Roy Sade thanked the West Honiara Community Policing Committee (CPC), White River Police, and National Crime Prevention Department for their continuous cooperation in driving the RSIPF Strategic Direction of working in close partnership with stakeholders and community to strengthen public safety.
Operation Manager Inspector Sade said it is encouraging to see community leaders coming out and showing support in maintaining law and order in our communities.

This is what other communities around Honiara should do to help support police in carrying out our duty.
“I also call on the same support to be rendered towards RSIPF operations throughout this Christmas and New Year celebration in ensuring our community is safe and secure,” said Inspector Sade.
Team Leader (TL) of the Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP), Mr. George Fanamanu, said the SIPSP is supporting the RSIPF community initiative engaging the White River community with a special focus on youth. Our intention is to support efforts of the RSIPF to raise community awareness with a targeted approach of engaging the youth of White River through sporting activities.
TL Fanamanu said sport is a proven platform of engagement, which we hope will lead to longer-term partnerships between communities and their police service.

SIPSP is fully behind this initiative and will fully support it to ensure that activities are well received and those participating are adequately acknowledged.
Former Honiara City Mayor, Mr. Wilson Mamae, has acknowledged the support given to his communities in White River and encouraged his people to work together with the police during this Christmas festive season.
A number of sports activities are being planned for this festive season.
