Dear Editor – With reference to “Why Kitano-WKK JV?” written by Jackson Ray which appeared in your Letters to the Editor dated 29 August 2016, we found the article malicious, unfounded and irresponsible which seems an attempt to tarnish the good image of our company and current project in the bad light.
We are writing to clarify that what he wrote was incorrect. Firstly, Kitano Construction was not involved in the construction of Kukum Highway road in the ‘90s.
Secondly, the said project was not a JICA Grant Aid Project. Therefore, his facts were misleading.
He should not put the blame on us for what he claimed wrong in the previous Kukum highway project.
We do not know for sure his real motive for writing such article, but we want him to be socially responsible for expressing his views.
His disparaging use of “Japs” for Japanese is insensitive.
If he has any query or concern about our project, he can check directly with us.
As our groundbreaking ceremony is fast approaching, our dedicated team wants to concentrate all our efforts on the successful and timely implementation of the Project, which serves as one of the instruments in the promotion and strengthening of the continued warm friendship and goodwill between the people of Japan and the Solomon Islands.
Rest assured that such non-constructive comment will not dampen our strong determination and commitment to deliver good quality Project as a gift from the people of Japan to the people of the Solomon Islands.
The Management
Kitano-WKK JV
