A WOMAN was killed by a fallen power line in Auki, Malaita Province on Friday.
The electrical power line fell following the bad weather experienced in Auki on Friday evening.
According to reports, the woman was walking home when she came in contact with the fallen power line which was lying across the main road.
The woman died at the scene.
Police in Auki confirmed the death but could not confirm if her death is caused by electrical shock she received from the fallen power line.
Police said no one witnessed the incident when it happens.
However, police said an investigation is now underway.
Speaking to Solomon Star in Auki, an officer from Solomon Power, who refused to be named said Solomon Power will conduct its own investigation into the death before providing any further information to the public.
The officer said a senior Solomon Power officer from Honiara is expected to travel to Auki yesterday to assess the situation.
“At the moment we are not in good position to give any information.
“We will be waiting for our senior officers to arrive and they are the right people to talk to the media,” the Solomon Power officer in Auki said.
Meanwhile, the Auki public is warned to be careful when travelling during this bad weather.
