Dear Editor – In the last couple of weeks there has wide coverage in your paper and other forms of media highlighting the need for wider participation of women in the national politics.
Sir, nobody is against that and the reasons usually given for their case is always genuine and real.
Women as always, served with great devotion, they are found in every sick room, bending over sufferer with unwearying solicitude, with matchless tenderness ministering to bodily comfort, and pouring the warmth of affection upon feverish spirits.
I do appreciate many women with Christian faith and values which are doing lowly paths quiet service which in the eyes of ordinary and grass root citizens sights is nobler than that of many famous ones.
We live in a free world but having ethical principles and serving the people with great devotion is the pathway.
Why so many women choose a life of idle display, of aimless, purposeless existence, of mere dressing, promenading and of marital breakups yet compassed women’s destination into politics makes no sense.
Women’s participation in politics is not an issue in Solomon Islands but the issue is within the women struggling for leadership themselves.
