Dear Editor – The forum meeting that was held in the National Parliament from Monday 11th to Friday 15th June was really helpful for senior, young and aspiring women leaders.
It provides a practical forum to expose women to the realities of policy making and parliamentary engagement.
I would like to register a word of thanks to the Women’s Rights Action Movement (WRAM) for partnering with the National Parliament of Solomon Islands, Ministry of Women, SI National Council of Women, and Vois Blong Mere Solomon in organising the Practice Parliament for Women & Girls.
Being one of the aspiring candidates identified by your stakeholders to participate in the PPFW 2018, this was an exciting moment I have ever had in my entire life.
The PPFW is very impressive because it helps me to prepare myself as one of the intending candidates for East Central Guadalcanal in the upcoming Provincial Elections in 2019.
Apart from that, we also had a debate held on Friday 15/06/18 which was also broadcasted live on Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) radio and Parliament TV is a chance for future women leaders and the public to reflect on how the country’s national resources are currently managed.
Not only that, this also gave an idea to our good citizens of this nation especially the rural populace.
Honestly speaking, it was a brilliant moment not only for me but also for the other aspiring participants who have engaged during the debate to prove beyond doubts, that women are more than capable of speaking on crucial issues, policy making and leading our provinces and nation.
Once again, thank you so much WRAM, the National Parliament of Solomon Islands, Ministry of Women, SI National Council of Women, and Vois Blong Mere Solomon in organising the Practice Parliament for Women 2018 and not forgetting the Aid Donors for making this event a success.
God bless Solomon Islands!
