HONIARA: Woodford International School on Friday 15th August 2025 conducted a successful internal speech contest, setting the stage for their upcoming inaugural speech contest scheduled for the second week of November.
School Principal Alex Haro highlighted the importance of the event as preparation for the larger contest.
“We are in the process of selecting our final main speech contestants and are excited for Woodford’s participation in this upcoming event,” he stated.
Mr. Haro also expressed gratitude to all participants in the internal contest, recognizing their efforts and contributions.
The speech contest featured various topics across three categories, reflecting the students’ diverse interests:
Junior Category (Year 4-5, 3-4 minutes): ‘Be a Buddy, Not Bully: Spreading Kindness in Our School.’
Intermediate Category (Year 6-8, 4-5 minutes): ‘Digital Danger Zones: Staying Safe and Kind Online.’
Senior Category (Year 9-11, 5-6 minutes): ‘Educational Inequality: To What Extent Could Three Realistic Strategies Reduce the Education Gap in Our Community?’
The event concluded with a ceremony recognizing the winning contestants, who were awarded certificates for their outstanding performances.
The school looks forward to showcasing its talent at the upcoming contest in November.
