12 local students from around the country will be flying to Taiwan to undergoing further studies after receiving their scholarship awards and tickets yesterday (Thursday).
They will be studying Mandarin Language at the Fugen Catholic University for one year before going for major courses at various universities there.
The recipients will take off 25th this month to take their five years training.
His Excellency Mr Victor Te-Sun Yu Ambassador of the Republic of Taiwan to Solomon Islands said that this is a great opportunity for the students to study in Taiwan.
“I believe that you and your parents are really happy with these opportunities,” Mr Victor Te-Sun Yu said.
He revealed that Taiwan is a true friend of Solomon Islands for more than 30 years and since then it has assist in many areas in the country.
On Thursday, the recipients and their parents were gathering together at the Cema building to witness the handing over tickets and scholarship awards.
Mr Victor Te-Sun Yu told the Solomon Start that Taiwan is working closely with the DCC government to development human resource in the country.
Permanent Sectary from the Ministry of Education Dr Franco Rodie said that they are very proud of such assistance from the true friend Taiwan.
“This scholarship scheme for Solomon islanders to undertake both undergraduate and postgraduate education and training in various institutions in Taiwan started in 2004,” Dr Rodie said.
He added that the scheme will be celebrating its twelfth (12th) year this and this is a sure sign that your country is still placing very high priority on training our country’s human resources.
“On this point, my ministry is deeply appreciated your government’s commitment and gesture to our endeavours to train our human resources,” the PS said.
Mr Victor said that these students will fly 25th this month and for one full year they will study madrilene league age before going for their major courses.
