Police will be conducting a high visibility operation this weekend as part of its crime prevention strategy.
Speaking to the media during the weekly police conference yesterday, Deputy Police Commander Juanita Matanga said police will target hot spots and other crimes in relation to anti-social behaviour.
Ms Matanga said such operation requires the support and cooperation of the public.
She acknowledged the support rendered to police by community chiefs, elders and leaders in clamping down on crime in the past.
“Local leaders in the communities came forward seeking to work in partnership with the police to ensure this program is established in their communities.
“I would like to inform communities within Honiara that we will continue to work with them in particular to set up a sub committee so that they can assist police in their work.”
She urged people in Honiara to support police to ensure a safe and peaceful society where everyone feels safe and secure.
