The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) successfully delivered a two-day advocacy workshop for private sector members, focusing on the critical theme of Human Rights in Business.
In partnership with the Solomon Islands Women Lawyers Association, SICCI hosted the workshop on 7th and 8th August 2025 at the Multi-Purpose Hall Conference Room.
The program brought together business owners, employees, and representatives from SICCI member companies and educational institutions.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions and group activities on key topics, including promoting gender equality, strengthening child protection, addressing domestic and gender-based violence, and supporting SMEs for inclusive growth.
“SICCI believes that respecting and protecting human rights is not merely a matter of compliance but an essential pillar of responsible leadership,” said James Dolarii, CEO of SICCI during the opening of the workshop.
“We encourage all businesses—both large and small—to embed these principles into their operations.”
Feedback from members confirmed the workshop’s success in meeting its objectives. Participants reported gaining a deeper understanding of human rights in a business context, along with practical knowledge to develop workplace policies addressing domestic violence, child protection, and Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI).
