Honiara City Councillor (HCC) for Panatina Ward 12, Cr. Lydia Yeo has congratulated the Gula Valley Community in East Honiara for successfully working together to officially open their newly completed road access, drainage, and two boreholes for water supply.
Speaking at the opening ceremony recently, Cr. Yeo commended the community’s unity and determination in making the project a reality, describing it as a true reflection of nation-building.
“A nation is made up of communities, and the strength of those communities is what makes a nation strong. When we build roads, drains, and water access, we are not just improving our communities, but we are also building our nation,” she said.
Cr. Yeo praised the Gula Valley people for their hard work and collective spirit, noting that their achievement demonstrates care not only for their community but also for the nation.
She encouraged the people to continue dreaming and planning for the future, adding, “We must always dream and have a vision for our communities. This is our community and our nation, so we must work hand in hand.”
The Councillor highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between communities, councillors, and national representatives in achieving sustainable progress.
“This development is a clear example of what we can achieve when we work together. It starts with our communities, supported by councillors, and strengthened by national leaders,” Cr. Yeo said.
Community elders also expressed their heartfelt thanks to Councillor Lydia Yeo for her continuous support in helping them reach this stage of their community projects.
