Gizo Town and Central Kolombangara soccer team are set to face off in a highly anticipated final match on Sunday afternoon at Ringi, Kolombangara, in Western Province.
The showdown is part of the Gizo Kolombangara Constituency (GKC) Cup, a newly launched sporting initiative officially opened on Monday by the Member of Parliament for Gizo Kolombangara Constituency, Hon. Jimson Tanaganda.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude before Christmas and will continue with other activities into the New Year.
Other activities include; a mini trade expo and other activities leading to the new year.
Both finalists secured their places after convincing semi-final victories.
Central Kolombangara defeated South Kolombangara, while Gizo Town dominated North Kolombangara with a 21–0 scoreline in the second half of their match.
Teams eliminated in the semi-finals will compete for third and fourth placing.
Meanwhile, the volleyball competition under the GKC Cup has already concluded, with Central Gizo crowned champions of the 2025 GKC Volleyball Tournament.
In netball, South Kolombangara won the netball title against West Gizo.
The GKC Local Organising Committee (LOC) is yet to confirm the total cash prize to be awarded to the winning soccer team, along with the championship trophy.
