Kirakira police have arrested a nurse who had an accident with the Kirakira hospital ambulance vehicle over the weekend.
Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial, Mr. Tex Tafoa, said the accident had occurred in the D10 area close to the Kirakira airport in Makira-Ulawa Province.
Supervising Assistant Commissioner Tafoa said the nurse who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol had an accident with the medical ambulance on his way back from the D10 area.
AC Tafoa said the Kirakira police officers formally arrested the suspect and dealt with him while the investigation on this accident is continuing.
Supervising AC Provincial Mr. Tafoa said the suspect was charged for careless driving and driving under the influence of liquor and will face his trial on a later date.
“Don’t drink and drive,” a police reminder to all drivers. Drinking and driving reduces your visibility during nighttime and rain. This will lead to poor decision-making, said AC Tafoa.
He emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules to ensure the safety of all road users and is urging the communities to report any careless driving behaviors to prevent further incidents.
