With just days remaining before nominations close, three candidates have officially put their names forward to contest the Malaita Province Ward 5 seat.
The confirmed candidates are; Mr. Norman Suidani, Mr. Dick Futaimalau, and Mr. Polycarp Erekwato.
Mr. Norman Suidani, the eldest son of the late Daniel Suidani, who previously served as the Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Ward 5, was the first to be successfully nominated last week.

Mr. Futaimalau, who previously served one term as MPA for Ward 5 before the late Daniel Suidani won the seat, has also officially entered the race.
Observers described the contest as a closely watched battle between experienced leadership and new representation.
Mr. Polycarp Erekwato is a newcomer to the Ward 5 by-election, adding a fresh dimension to the race.
