Construction of the Musukui Clinic in Ward 7 of North Malaita Constituency is progressing steadily, driven by strong community support and active local participation.
The much-needed health facility is a key development priority for Ward 7 and is expected to improve access to basic healthcare services for thousands of people in the area.
Member of Parliament (MP) for North Malaita Constituency, Hon. Daniel Waneoroa, recently visited the project site and expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far.
He acknowledged that construction has faced logistical challenges, particularly in transporting building materials and coordinating supplies to the remote site.
However, he said the determination and cooperation of community members have ensured the work continues to move forward.
“I am very happy with what I have seen today. Despite the logistical difficulties we face in transporting materials and coordinating supplies, the progress achieved reflects the strong commitment of our people,” Hon. Waneoroa said.
The MP paid tribute to community leaders and volunteers who have freely contributed their labour and time to support the project.
“You are not paid, yet you have committed yourselves to ensuring this project moves forward. Your dedication shows true leadership and heart for your community,” he said.
Community members have assisted with site preparation, manual labour and transporting materials, demonstrating unity and ownership of the project.
Once completed, the Musukui Clinic will serve communities in Musukui, Kwaithafu, Walo, Kwainakiu and Ofu — some of the most populated areas of North Malaita.
The facility is expected to significantly reduce travel time for patients and strengthen primary healthcare services in Ward 7 and surrounding communities.
The project is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
Meanwhile, a separate clinic project earmarked for Ward 9 has been delayed due to issues among resource owners.
