The Honiara Table Tennis Association (HTTA) is set to stage its annual School Table Tennis Festival mid this year.
The event will run from June 16 to 19 at the Multipurpose Indoor Court in Honiara.
HTTA President and Smash Down Barriers disability table tennis program coordinator, Kevin Olea, confirmed to Star Sport yesterday that preparations are underway for the four-day event, which will bring together 14 schools from Honiara and Guadalcanal.
Olea said the festival aims to promote both sporting excellence and inclusivity among students.
“The event will bring together 14 schools from Honiara and Guadalcanal as we foster an inclusive environment that is safe and confident for our student participants through education and balancing sport,” he said.
He added that the festival will also feature participation from two disability institutions, the Solomon Islands Red Cross and the Bethesda Disability Support Centre — reinforcing HTTA’s commitment to inclusive sport.
HTTA has also issued a call to business houses to support the initiative through corporate social responsibility contributions and donations.
Olea acknowledged the continued support from partners including Solrise Company Ltd, Delight Flour Company, Soltuna Company, Szetu Water, Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands and the Development Bank of Solomon Islands.
He also recognised community leaders such as Manasseh Damukana Sogavare, Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Choiseul, and former Education Minister Lannelle Tanagada for their past contributions.
“We kindly seek the valuable and generous assistance of these organisations and individuals for our upcoming Honiara School Festival,” Olea said.
Meanwhile, registration for the tournament opens on April 24 and closes on May 25, 2026. This will be followed by draws, pool standings and seeding ahead of the competition.
Registration forms can be submitted through participating schools, emailed to [email protected], or enquiries can be made via phone on 7201780.
