A business man in Choiseul Province is calling on Bank South Pacific (BSP) to open up another agent (Branch) in the province.
Johnson Sopeke told the Solomon Star following what he claims the current banking service provided by BSP in the province needs further improvement.
“At the moment only three BSP agents are operating in the province but that does not cater for the ever increasing BSP customers here,” he said.
He said what troubles him is the deposit limit being set by BSP.
“I have observed that a lot of business people here want to deposit money into their bank accounts but were denied due to the limit agreed upon by the bank.”
He claimed that deposits are much higher than withdrawal.
“This means if deposits reach $300,000 to $400,000 which is the limit set by BSP then no deposits will be authorized thereafter, unless people make withdrawals to permit anyone to make deposits.
“But this I see it as not pleasing because some of us, who are rural dwellers and travel by boats to Taro often, face difficulties when we turned up at the agents only to be told by the banking officers that deposit has reached the limit.
“And to ensure we make deposits we have to wait two or three days at Taro to make sure people withdraw money before we can make our deposits.
“This has cause a lot of inconvenience to us customers,” Mr Sopeke added.
He said this is an ongoing issue that troubled them often and thus call on BSP to open another branch as soon as possible to cater for the growing BSP customers there.
Comments are being sought from BSP.
