Kirakira Police officers have confiscated 11 cartons of beer and a bucket of homebrew from Ulawa Island during the polling day.
The confiscated beers were transported along with the ballot boxes to Kirakira by boat yesterday.
Information from the Kirakira Police said, “Our officers on the field have confiscated 11 cartons of beer from Ulawa Island on Wednesday.
“The suspect is yet to be arrested, and charged. Investigation into the matter is still going on and arrests are expected soon.”
A weeklong ban on alcohol has been imposed starting this week which means all bottle shops and liquor outlets have been closed nationwide.
The closure will be lifted by Tuesday next week.
