SOUTH Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) has organised a one day cruise ship workshop at Heritage Park Hotel on Monday.
Solomon Island Visitors Bureau (SIVB), Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Inbound tour operators, private sectors and stakeholders attended the workshop.
SPTO Marketing Manager, Alisi Lutu who facilitated the workshop said, the aim was to look into cruise shipping industry in Solomon Islands.
“SPTO is organising workshops for pacific island countries cruise ships and Solomon Island have been included this countries.
“Solomon Islands is one of the cruise destinations therefore SPTO is organising this workshop with stakeholders to see which areas SPTO can step in to help improve the industry in Solomon islands,” Ms Lutu said.
Outcome of the discussions at the workshop will be followed up by SPTO consultant.
“We have a consultant that will be working on an outcome discussed today (yesterday) in this workshop about cruise tourism in Solomon Islands.”
She returns to Fiji today with the outcome of the workshop and a consultant will return as part of a follow-up on what have been discussed,” Ms Lutu said.
The next workshop will be conducted in Tahiti next week.
