Dear Editor – As a citizen of this country I have been very disappointed on how drivers of vehicles have carelessly and do think that they own a walk path and do whatever they may wish without think the risk of pedestrian used that walk path every morning and evening.
For instance, I was standing just the opposite of the ANZ Building at Point Cruz (about 9:20am, Monday 15/09/2014) looking at my right side (just beside Amis Restaurant) for clear traffic in order to across for work when a Hilux (MA: 1125) park beside me reverse and hit me at my right shoulder and when I looked at him through the window screen, there was no sign of apology or even didn’t give a sign or call me to move for him to reverse.
I had been left very disappointed because this driver has no respect for us pedestrians as he thought think that he owned every road and walk path.
Let put this in a simple way, drivers only pay their license to drive only, and the vehicle license was only paid for the road but not on a walk path.
It is common sense but I am very surprised to see that this driver had no respect and care about the danger that he will cause.
Therefore, I suggest that responsible authorities must make sure drivers that such drivers have their license terminated to drive because if they continue to drive they will put our people (pedestrians) life at risk.
And if this was done then it will prevent and safe guard our people, especially pedestrians who used the side walk path every morning and evening.
Also responsible authorities with NGO’s, Private Companies..etc must work together to ensure that drivers must do the right thing and respect pedestrian.
