THE founder, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Eagon Group of companies has left the country yesterday after spending a week in the country as part of his annual visit to the country.
Young-Ju Park was in the country since last Wednesday to visit the Eagon Pacific Plantation Limited____s (EPPL) operation at Arara camp on New Georgia Island, Western province, and the Honiara office.
EPPL Managing Director Boyoung Moon told the Solomon Star yesterday Mr Park spent most of his time at Arara camp before returning to Honiara early this week.
Mr Moon said following his arrival in the country last Wednesday he headed down to Arara Camp to check on the operations there.
Speaking to the Solomon Star yesterday Mr Park said he was pleased with his visit to the country this week.
He said, during the trip to the Western province and to Honiara, he had met with the company officials, workers, landowning groups and government officials.
He also shared the company’s investment plan at Arara now and into the future.
Mr Park was also the Solomon Islands Honorary Consul General in Seoul, South Korea, since 1993.
Eagon is a sustainable reforestation company with a large reforestation area at Arara up to over 25, 000 hectares of land.
Since its establishment in the country more than 30 years, the forests had been logged several times but reforestation continues to sustain the forest.
Their contributions here have also helped to raise the standard of living in the country.
