The Aquila Talasasa festival which will kick off this week in Gizo, Western province, will be promoted internationally.
This will happen through a travel writer who will be visiting the country today.
Solomon Island Visitors Bureau (SIVB) is bringing a travel writer from Australia to write more about the festival but especially the traditional canoe known as tomoko.
The travel writer arrives today from Australia and will fly over to Gizo tomorrow morning.
SIVB event organiser Stella Lucas told the Solomon Star yesterday said, the travel writer will be taken around Gizo to show him some ideal tourism spots in Gizo to write about.
“This travel writer will be taken everywhere around Gizo to take photos and get information for international promotion.
“But the ultimate aim why he is here is to promote the traditional tomoko. Most people want to know about tomoko especially those in overseas, therefore, this travel writer is here to promote this festival internationally,” she said.
Ms Lucas said SIVB has taken a step this year to invite more international travel writer to visiting Solomon Islands.
“Some travel writers have visited the country couple of months ago and more will arrive later this year.
“SIVB is working hard to ensure Solomon Island could be renowned internationally. Therefore I urged everyone in the country to work closely with SIVB by feeding us with information to promote this country abroad,” she said.
