AN Australian couple became the first to take up the holiday package promoted and sold by the Ignite Travel Group (ITG) from Australia.
Peter Erskine and Susan Trotman on Tuesday arrived in the country and will spend about a week in the country.
They were both welcomed by officials from the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) and Staff of Travel Solomons Ltd at Honiara International Airport afternoon yesterday.
The Ignite Travel Group is an innovative and dynamic multi-channelled tourism marketing company that creates unique travel experiences and distribution opportunities.
ITG has incorporated its patented travel based promotions division at RewardsCorp and Australia’s leading travel innovator and 2011 BRWs Fastest 100 award recipient.
The group came here early this year through the support from SIVB and Solomon Airlines and have visited Marau, East Guadalcanal and Gizo in Western Province.
They did a lot of photographs and stories about these places and sold it in Australia and other countries.
They also met Prime Minister Manneseh Sogavere while visiting the country.
Karen Foimua ,Managing Director of Travel Solomons Ltd who will look after the couple while in Honiara told the Solomon Star yesterday, the two were first tourists that came under the packages sold by Ignite Travel Group in Australia.
“After Ignite Travel Group visited the country they did a number of writes up about Solomon Islands especially the two best holiday sites in the country.”
The couple will be in the country for a week visiting old second world war relics and historical sites in Honiara. They will return back to Australia next week.
Ms Foimua thanked SIVB for its partnership with Ignite Travel Group in making visit possible.
