Fisheries Minister Hon Nestor Ghiro who is on his first official visit overseas has had a fruitful discussion with the Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation (OFCF) of Japan over the weekend.
Honourable Ghiro who led a small delegation comprising the Permanent Secretary Dr Christain Ramofafia, Director Mr Edward Honiwala and the Chief Crown Counsel from the Attorney General’s Office Mrs Rosemary Maefiti Soma had met with the OFCF President Mr Yoshiharu Takenaka in Tokyo and discussed issues that are of interest to the Ministry of Fisheries.
The minister discussed issues of common interest including OFCF’s ongoing support to the Ministry of Fisheries and Marines Resources’ sea cucumber hatchery project, the rehabilitation of provincial fisheries centres and capacity building in terms of Training in Japan for Fisheries officers.
The Minister and his delegation will travel to Korea for further Fisheries bilateral Consultations with the Korean Fishing Associations.
The delegation will arrive back in by the weekend.
