The national carrier Solomon Airlines has increased the number of flights to Gwounaru’u airport in Auki, Malaita.
Three additional flights were added to the normal three flights per week due to demand.
When the airport was reopened on the 30th of May this year, the national carrier only introduces three flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays respectively.
With the three new additional flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays the national carrier now flies to Auki six times a week from Monday to Saturday except on Sundays.
According to the Airlines Agenet in Auki Peter Atee, the increase in the number of flights to Auki was triggered by the high demand for flights in and out of the province.
Mr. Atee said the national carrier is working very hard to ensure the needs of the traveling public for air transportation is satisfied.
