Honiara international airport was packed on Tuesday by Bosconians to welcome the visiting Accordion orchestra group from Saxony-Germany.
The band arrived from Papua New Guinea after conducting a number of performance there.
While in Honiara they will perform at Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) Auditorium tomorrow – Thursday, 21st July from 6.00pm, and at Don Bosco Tetere on Friday at 10am.
The group is led by Br. Reto Wanner from Port Moresby. The 21-member troupe left Germany on 11th July, and gave concerts at Port Moresby and Kokopo in PNG before arriving in Solomon Islands.
Today they will visit places of tourist interest in Honiara and surroundings. And on Thursday, 21st they will be part of the “Cultural Night” organized by the Boscoians.
“The warm climate with the warmth and friendliness of the people here makes us feel at home” said 16-year old Sally, the youngest in the group. Janne, the youngest of boys said, “We are excited about the cultural night at DBTI … we can’t wait to be part of it”.
