THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies media reports that two Solomon Islands diplomats have resigned to contest in the upcoming National General Elections.
But a Ministry senior executive did confirm the Solomon Islands Ambassador to Taiwan, Laurie Chan, had indeed resigned to contest the elections.
He however said he has not heard nor seen any formal correspondence from the country’s High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, William Haomae about resigning to contest the Small Malaita Parliamentary seat.
There is a speculation that Mr Haomae will resign his diplomatic post to contest the elections.
The speculation stemmed from Mr Haomae’s recent holiday in Small Malaita.
The senior executive says Mr Haomae continues to carry out his normal duties as a diplomat in the High Commission in Port Moresby since his return from his holidays.
