PRESIDENT of the Solomon Islands Judo Federation says the recent donation of 50 sets of uniforms from the Japanese Embassy through the Japanese Olympic Committee is a milestone achievement for the Judo Federation in the country.
Eddie Cooper told Star Sports that the much needed assistance will certainly boost judo’s preparations for the upcoming Regional and International competitions as well as development of the sport in the country.
“This assistance from Japan will help judo’s development overall,’’ he said.
“We have witnessed that Solomon Islands has been improving in other areas, hence in sports this donation will definitely bring Judo to another level.
Mr Cooper added, Solomon Islands Judo Athletes had been competing in Olympic Games, and that the gift is a push in their development endeavour.
Cooper also revealed that in the past Judo had been experiencing problems with uniforms.
“In the past we were not able to develop young judos due to lack of small uniforms.
“But with the inclusion of smaller uniform sizes, we will now be able to develop our young potential athletes,’’ President Cooper stated.
