A local musician says music should be incorporated in the school curriculum so that it can be taught in schools.
Selwyn Talasasa of ‘2 Gud Boys’ band told highlighted this in an interview with the Solomon Star in Munda last week.
“Music should be included in the formal education to ensure students learn music at the very age.”
He also highlighted that today many young talented musicians are relying very much on computers to produce music which should be discouraged.
He added by allowing people to learn music through formal education it will help to grow the music industry in the country and also allow musicians to become qualified and be professionals.
He however pointed out that one contributing factor that puts music industry down is the lack of support from the government.
Steven Maeru of 2-4-1 band also echoed similar sentiments saying that musician in the country have been left out by the government through lack of funding.
He said musicians should be well supported because it helps engage youths to be busy while making use of their talents.
Not only that but it helps to promote peace in times of crisis.
Meanwhile the band members have commended the Prime Ministers Office (PMO) for supporting their trip to attend the festival.
