THE Parliamentary Opposition has strongly urged the Prime Minister and his Government to immediately cease all arrangements with Skyline Investment Group Company.
In a statement on Thursday, the Parliamentary Opposition has warned that fresh revelations concerning a director of Skyline Company Jason Liu Tao as an international scammer and a wanted man in mainland China for his fake virtual coin investment, fake property development from Fiji and Solomon Islands must be taken seriously by the Government.
“The fresh allegations against Skyline Company that Mr Tao has scammed about 50,000 people estimated around 3 Billion RMB is serious. Such information must not be taken lightly by the Government and must be investigated. Until the investor is proven genuine, this whole agreement between the Government and Skyline Group must be terminated,” the statement said.
The statement highlighted that when this deal was first brought to light, the Parliamentary Opposition has warned that this deal was a ‘scam’.
“The Prime Minister and his Government should’ve listened to the advice from the Opposition at the first place that Skyline Company has a shady background with no historical records of any sort and it is not a genuine investor; and the Government should not engage them. Now with this latest revelation the Prime Minister must do the right thing and terminate the MOU with Skyline Group,” it stated.
The Parliamentary Opposition said the shady background of the investor was already put into question when the Opposition Group questioned the Company Haus records as to why the Asian developer had the same company and individual addresses as that of the Office of the Prime Minister & Cabinet (OPMC) as their contact address.
“The questions raised by the Opposition as to why the Skyline Investment Group is using the same address (C/- P.O Box G1) as that of the OPMC should already be an indicator to the Prime Minister that this company is not genuine and a scam and that is why the Prime Minister needs to sack his SSPM or be seen as part of this whole scam,” the statement said.
The Parliamentary Opposition statement said the best thing to do is to cease all arrangements with the investor and the Government venture into bilateral or multilateral arrangements for the housing project.
The statement said another option would be for the Government to allow relevant ministries deal discretely with and implement the project through the Home Finance Corporation.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Group has also called on the Government to deport the Asian investor and his associates if the allegations are true.
“Such people should be deported and never allowed back into the country because it is clear enough that they are not here to invest but to steal taxpayers and citizens of this country,” the statement said.
The Opposition Group has also sighted the alert email that was circulated to embassies in the Pacific region cautioning them of Mr Tao’s fraudulent activities and also calling for his arrest and deportation back to mainland China.
The Opposition Group has also raised its concern regarding a photo published in the Solomon Star yesterday which indicated that the Prime Minister privately hosted the director of Skyline Company at his residential area at Henderson early this year.
The statement said this has put the integrity of the Prime Minister into question in which the Prime Minister needs to clarify.
