The People’s Alliance Party (PAP) is calling on its members to show their support.
The party president, Sir Nathaniel Waena makes the call ahead of the registration of political parties as stipulated under the newly passed Political Party Integrity Act.
The registration of political parties will begin in August, but the government is yet to determine the exact date.
Sir Nathaniel said his party calls on members whose membership may have lapsed to renew them, and he adds there is still enough time for supporters who have yet to pay their memberships to do so.
He said already the People’s Alliance Party has in place its national policy manifesto and the election platform.
The two important party documents will be launched this Saturday in Honiara during the party’s national convention.
Sir Nathaniel said PAP candidates who will contest the 2014 general elections later year will use the election platform during the political campaigns.
He said although the party has already received about 60 applications from people who want to contest the elections under the People’s Alliance Party banner, the PAP will continue to accept applications from other supporters just before the launch of the two documents.
Sir Nathaniel said the party aims at selecting its final list of candidates from all the 50 constituencies nationwide.
