A FORMER Solomon Airlines officer manning the Lata office in Temotu John Menapi has appealed to passengers regularly traveling by plane to follow airline laws during boarding time.
Menapi told the Solomon Star in an Interview from Lata that passengers need to carry with them required weight of their luggage.
Mr Menapi vacated the office early last month and was replaced by John Fenua. He urged passengers to put a stop in carrying luggage without freighting them.
He claimed his was removed because of passengers’ irresponsible actions who boarded the plane without freighting their excess luggage and they informed the airline office in Honiara that it comes under my privileged.
“But under the airline regulations the airline officers who’re in charge of the airline agents in the provinces have no privilege to allow luggage sent free by plane.
“Temotuans should stop act irresponsibly because safety of passengers is what matters most.
Menapi appealed to Solomon Airline office in Honiara to consider proper fencing of the domestic airport in Lata and security as well.
It is important to ensure passengers only allowed to enter the boarding area and proper checking of their luggage before boarding the plane.
Mr Menapi claimed he was sacked for offences he never committed.
John Menapi confirmed he was given his marching orders on 2 January 2015.
