Domestic shipping operator Shipping Limited has announced an increase in sea fares across all its routes, effective Monday, April 27, 2026.
In a public notice to passengers, the company confirmed that fares will rise by an additional $50 on all routes, including services to Malaita, Western, Choiseul, Makira and Guadalcanal provinces.
The company attributed the adjustment to the recent rise in fuel prices, as confirmed by the government, noting that fuel remains a major component of operating costs for its fast craft vessels.
Pelican Shipping stated that the decision was necessary to sustain safe, reliable and consistent services, despite the impact it may have on passengers.
The operator also acknowledged the understanding and continued support of the travelling public as it implements the new fare structure.
Meanwhile, other vessel operators are also expected to follow suit and increase their sea fares in response to rising fuel costs.
