OFFICERS of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Gizo, Western Province, recently conducted awareness at Kongu following a request from community leaders.
A statement from the RSIPF said the awareness to Kongu community is part of the RSIPF community policing under its Crime Prevention Strategy.
Western Province Provincial Police Commander chief superintendent Mathias Lenialu said the program focused mainly on youths who have been influenced and involved in social activities that brought in unwanted habits to the communities.
“It is based on public related offences like homebrew (kwaso), public nuisance and domestic violence that have been experienced in our own homes and communities every now and then,” Mr Lenialu said.
Following the program, Kongu community had decided to form their Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) to assist police.
