POLICE have successfully retrieved the boat, believed to have gone missing between Gizo and Choiseul last month.
The ray boat, which had in it seven passengers, went missing on its way to Choiseul with only two survivors successfully rescued, a corpse believed to be the driver of the boat (found two weeks after the incident) and other items.
The boat was found in south Marovo more than three weeks after the incident, with the person who found it demanding that he be paid compensation.
Seghe Police have confirmed that they have held successful negotiations with all parties and have retrieved the ray boat and had it transported back to Gizo for further investigations.
Morris Rikihi of Seghe police confirmed to this paper saying:
“Police had successfully retrieved the boat on Friday and have transported it along with other additional items found at sea to Gizo for further investigations.”
