Families, friends and church members from across Guadalcanal gathered on Sunday, 18 January 2026, at St John the Baptist Duidui Local Church in Sahalu Parish, North West Guadalcanal to witness the consecration of Deacon Godfrey Mola to the priesthood.
Duidui Local Church comes under the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM).
Congregations in attendance included members from St John the Baptist Church, Marasa in West Guadalcanal, Kohimarama, Vatupilei and St Mark Ghorabau.
Fr Godfrey Mola was ordained by the Diocesan Bishop of Guadalcanal, the Right Reverend Benedict Loe.
The consecration followed the legacy of his late father, the late Reverend Fr Stephen Sage, and was conducted under the theme: “We are not called for status, but called to serve.”

In his sermon, Bishop Loe called on the church community to support the ministry of the newly ordained priest by working together in unity.
He encouraged Fr Mola to carry out his mission with humility and continual self-reflection.
“Priesthood is about being missionary, not about status or being stationary. It is not a noun, but a verb,” Bishop Loe said.
He further stressed the importance of developing a Christ-centred identity, seeking feedback from others and fully embracing the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

“The work of a priest is to embrace the Holy Spirit, to become a bridge between God and His people, and to always remain dependent on the Holy Spirit,” he added.
During the service, Bishop Loe also formally announced that Fr Godfrey Mola has been appointed as Assistant Rector at Moli Parish within the Marau Parish, East Guadalcanal.
The occasion was made more significant with the blessing of the headstone of Fr Godfrey Mola’s late father, Fr Stephen Sage, marking both a moment of remembrance and the continuation of a family legacy in church ministry.
