Malaita Tennis Association (MTA) has called on its provincial government to include sport in its development plan.
Speaking to Star sport, president of MTA Raphael Angi’i said sport plays an important role in building better life for youths and children.
“In many occasions sport prevent youths from engaging in unlawful activities and do better things in their lives,” he said.
Mr Angi’I therefore recommends that sport like tennis should be included in the priorities areas in terms of sport because it can attracts young age groups.
He said, there are many talented tennis players in the province that need the support of the provincial government in terms of facilities and equipment’s.
He said once these areas are provided the upcoming events like the South Pacific Games should not be difficult when selecting players.
He believes that once the provincial government recognised and addressed such issue, the crime rate in the province would be under controlled.
Meanwhile Angi’i urges the provincial government to discuss the matter seriously to make better development in terms of sports in Malaita province.
