SPTO: Tourism stakeholders in major tourism source markets from around the world will meet in Singapore to showcase tourism products at the ITB Asia tourism trade show next week.
The event which takes place from October 29-31 at the exquisite Marina Bay Sands will convene tourism promotion bodies, tourism operators, agents and airlines that will be showcasing exceptional destinations and experiences offered by tourism businesses.
For the South Pacific Tourism Organisation, this will be the second time it will participate at ITB Asia with officials from the national tourism offices of Fiji and Samoa.
“An important part of the meeting is the B2B event which provides each participant with three days of pre-scheduled appointments to facilitate meetings and establish networking with key contacts from the Asia Pacific region. This translates to around 45 to 65 appointments with buyers,” Chief Executive IlisoniVuidreketi said.
“The latest second quarterly survey showed that the Chinese source market for the Pacific had grown from 8,449 in the same quarter for 2013 to 12,679 in this second quarter for 2014.
“Statistics from the same report continue to show more growth from source markets in the Asia/Pacific region than any other region in the world so meeting the demands of this fast growing source market is inevitable.”
He said the potential for growing contacts that would transfer to tapping into the important growing source markets is one key area in attending these meetings.
“Displaying Pacific Island destinations and their tourism products is one of the objectives for the South Pacific’s participation at ITB Asia and more importantly, meeting and knowing who will open the doors for tourists who come to our shores,”Vuidreketi said.
SPTO also attends ITB Asia’s sister-event ITB Berlin held in Germany every year.
