RETIRED police inspector Stephen Rex has called on policemen and women in the country to pull up their shocks.
Mr Rex made the statement following what he claims, the standard of performance in the force has dropped, poor and lacks leadership and supervision.
“Today’s development and life’s situation changes drastically therefore the force must be properly equipped in terms of knowledge, skills and fitness,” Mr Rex said.
He stressed that today’s force can be described as ineffective, corrupt and lazy. Adding the public no longer fears police and can do whatever they want since they knew police will not do anything to stop them, catch them or punish them for their wrongs.
“Increase in crime and people’s behaviour could be a good measure of police’s performance. Less crime, good community behaviour, respect and public fear of breaking the law indicates strong policing work within the community,” Rex said
He said some of the reasons why the force is weak and can’t perform to the expectation of the public is because the leaders of the force themselves are too weak, corrupt and become criminals themselves.
“They break the laws and never being punished. Therefore when they tried to correct the public, they will never listen because they knew the police themselves are not doing their job and they themselves are criminals (law breakers),” Rex added.
He said the junior police officers have tried their best and work really hard but their efforts are wasted when their seniors and bosses showed otherwise.
Meanwhile Mr Rex called on the community to support the force and urges the current police executive to work extra hard to bring back public trust and confidence.
