THE New Zealand High Commission in Solomon Islands (NZHCSI) has launched a Solomon Islands-New Zealand Alumni Community (SINZAC).
According to the NZHCSI, SINZAC is an alumni community for Solomon Islanders who have previously studied in Aotearoa New Zealand.
“SINZAC aims to provide opportunities for alumni to engage in community service, mentoring and professional development and to promote shared values and connections between Aotearoa New Zealand and Solomon Islands.
“We were honoured to host over 100 incredible alumni at the event, all of whom are doing remarkable work in their communities and workplaces.
“We also highlighted the amazing opportunity for alumni to connect with Volunteer Services Abroad (VSA), Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest and most experienced volunteer agency working in Solomon Islands,” NZHCSI stated.
The event was attended by the New Zealand High Commissioner, Jonathan Schwass, and interim SINZAC team leader, Ronney Kenitahana, a group of prestigious New Zealand alumni, including the Minister of Education and Human Resources, Lanelle Tanagada, who was the our guest of honour, Minister of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, Minister Frederick Kologeto, Permanent Secretary of Minister of Education and Human Resource Development, Dr Franco Rodie, Clerk to National Parliament, David Kusilifu, Dean of Faculty of Education of the Solomon Islands National University, Dr Patricia Rodie, Conservation Programme Manager WWF, Dr Gregory Bennett and CEO of the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation, Johnson Honimae.
