A new date for this year in relation to Facebook users by country shows that the Solomon Islands has approximately 192,900 users, representing 23.55% of the population.
This places the country around 136th globally in terms of total Facebook users.
However, there are more females using Facebook than males in Solomon Islands.
The report highlights how social media usage varies widely around the world. India leads with 581.6 million users, followed by the United States (279.8 million) and Brazil (175.1 million).
In the Pacific region, countries like Fiji (664,500 users) and Vanuatu (137,400 users) have smaller user bases, while Solomon Islands ranks higher than Vanuatu but lower than Fiji.
The gender distribution in Solomon Islands shows a slightly higher percentage of female users (53.9%) compared to male users (46.1%), reflecting a growing trend of women engaging on social media platforms.
Experts say the relatively modest Facebook penetration in the Solomon Islands reflects infrastructure limitations, urban-rural digital divides, and ongoing efforts to expand internet accessibility across the country.
As Facebook continues to shape communication, commerce, and information-sharing, Solomon Islands’ position in global rankings underscores both challenges and opportunities for digital growth in the Pacific region.
