THE national government needs to recruit a new permanent secretary for the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration (MCILI).
Leader of the Independent Group and Member of Parliament for North East Guadalcanal Dr Derek Sikua said the ministry cannot operate without a permanent secretary.
“The work of the ministry is very important for this country,” Dr Sikua said.
He said the challenges encountered by the ministry indicated the need for a new permanent secretary who will work with the minister to push the work of the ministry forward.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration has been without a permanent secretary since last year.
Dr Sikua called on the government to address this vacant position stating that the ministry plays a vital role in the economy of this country.
