The Malaita Assembly Speaker says he remains neutral amidst the political uproar that will likely see a motion of no confidence against the current MART ruling government.
Titus Fika made the response following accusation by some provincial members claiming he is in favour of the ruling MART government.
But in response Mr Fika said that is misleading.
“I am not finding ways to defeat the motion outside of the Assembly as claimed in the local media,” he said.
Mr. Fika said he keep his status remain neutral with all due respect to the status of the position and the laws that guided the position as the speaker of the Malaita Assembly.
“I maintain my neutrality as the speaker of the Malaita Assembly and I want
the Assembly and people of Malaita to know that I will always stand neutral as the speaker of the Malaita Assembly and am not taking any sides on either side of the two sides,” he said.
He said the claims that he has a role player in trying to help the current ruling government to disallow the motion of no confidence is not true.
“I wish to affirm the public and the two political sides that I will remain despite the current political friction in the Malaita provincial government and criticisms that put against me.”
